Fairfield is a city in Jefferson County and a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama which is located in north central Alabama. The region contains numerous woodlands, lakes, and rivers. Hiking, biking, backpacking, climbing, fishing, and boating can be enjoyed at many area locations including Oak Mountain State Park, Alabama's largest state park. Secluded natural areas can even be found within the Birmingham city limits at Ruffner Mountain Nature Center. The Fairfield area also has many restaurants, shopping centers, attractions and events to choose from.
