Fairfield is a city in Jefferson County and a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama which is located in north central Alabama. The region contains numerous woodlands, lakes, and rivers. Hiking, biking, backpacking, climbing, fishing, and boating can be enjoyed at many area locations including Oak Mountain State Park, Alabama's largest state park. Secluded natural areas can even be found within the Birmingham city limits at Ruffner Mountain Nature Center. The Fairfield area also has many restaurants, shopping centers, attractions and events to choose from. The top ten attractions include the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Vulcan Park, Alabama Adventure, McWane Center, Birmingham Museum of Art, Birmingham Zoo, Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Barber Motorsports Park, Riverchase Galleria, and the Talladega Superspeedway.
